Privacy Policy

App, website, X Squad Chat and Alexa skill · Effective October 30, 2026

The short version: you can listen without an account. We don’t show ads, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, we don’t sell your information, and we don’t collect your location. If you use the chat, the name you pick and what you post are stored so the room works and moderators can keep it safe.

This policy covers the X Squad Radio mobile app for iPhone and Android, our website xsquadradio.com, X Squad Chat (in the app and on the website) and the X Squad Radio Alexa skill.

Listening

The live stream is delivered by our streaming provider, Radio.co. Like any internet audio service, it receives your device’s IP address and basic technical details (such as the app and device type) so it can send you the audio and count listeners. The app also asks Radio.co what song and show are on. We don’t receive personal information from this.

Chat

When you join X Squad Chat, the app signs you in anonymously. That creates a random ID for your device; it isn’t linked to your name, email or phone number. We store:

Messages are public to everyone in the room, in the app and on our website. Please don’t post anything personal. Moderators can delete messages and remove people who break the chat rules. Messages are kept until a moderator deletes them, or until you ask us to delete yours.

Chat data is stored with Google Firebase, in the United States.

GIFs

The GIF picker is powered by GIPHY. When you open it or search, your search words and your device’s IP address go to GIPHY to return results, under GIPHY’s privacy policy. We don’t send GIPHY your chat name or messages.

News

The News tab loads headlines and pictures directly from music news sites (currently XXL, Rated R&B and SoulBounce). Those sites receive your IP address when the app loads them, and when you open a story it opens on their site under their own privacy policies.

Stored only on your phone

Some settings never leave your device: your chat name and that you agreed to the chat rules, the people you’ve blocked, the Data saver setting, and recently loaded headlines.

Website

The website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores a few settings on your own device: your volume level, chat name, that you agreed to the chat rules, and the people you’ve blocked. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and like any website our hosting provider (Google Firebase) keeps standard server logs such as IP addresses for security and reliability.

Alexa skill

The X Squad Radio Alexa skill plays the live stream. It collects no personal information and needs no account linking. Amazon processes your voice requests under Amazon’s privacy notice.

App updates

The app checks our update service (Expo) for fixes and improvements. That check sends technical information such as the app version and platform, not personal information.
